Lion Hunting


During your hunt, Mosquito Valley Outfitters can usually tell you within 20 pounds what a cat
will weigh and tell you its sex just by looking at the tracks. To a well-trained eye, male cougar
feet look much different than female cougar feet. The size and shape of the foot, and the width
and length of the stride help determine the sex and weight of a cat. This is important because
there's no sense wasting time on an animal that you have no interest in taking. The time can be
much more wisely spent trying to locate the size of cat that you really want.

Mosquito Valley Outfitters never tells anyone that they have to take any animal. The choice is
yours concerning which cats are chased and which cat you may want to harvest.

Buyer is responsible for cost of hunting license and tag of $243. and a small transportation fee
from airport to your own transportation to camp. $250.

All meals, lodging, field dressing, full 1 on 1 guide service, and a wonderful time are ON US!!

You are required at time of booking to secure your hunt with a $1000. deposit and signing a
booking agreement.

This is a great hunting trip and a great hunting adventure. Hunting Lions in the desert of
Nevada is something a person will never forget. These awesome predators are such a powerful
creature and to think that you will be close enough to them that at any instant they could "take
you out" will be an ADRENALINE rush like no other. It's hard to imagine taking one of the most
powerful creatures on earth. This is an animal that ALL big game hunters long for and this is your
chance to go with an outfitter that has been doing this for a long time and is good at it!! Don't

Accommodations:

You will be staying in remote camps. They are off the grid and run with generator. Outhouses
and bathrooms are in both camps! They have all accommodations, wood stoves, beds, you will
have a comfortable bed to stay in and you will have plenty of good food. Lunches are typically
sack lunches, sandwiches, unless we are coming back by one of the camps. It's your choice how
much time is spent at camp. The more time your out the more time we have to find you an
awesome lion track! You make that call. We have lots of lions, if the weather is right we will find
tracks almost everyday!

Most mature toms will weigh from 120 to 160 pounds and skin out from 7 to 9 feet in length, but
through the years many larger cats have been taken by Mosquito Valley Outfitters that have
weighed as much as 205 pounds. Mosquito Valley Outfitters clients have taken numerous record
book cats through the years. But don’t assume it’s easy to find a record book cat. It’s best to go
into the hunt looking for a respectable cat and if we find a big old tom, then figure you have
beaten the odds.

Best Time

The best hunting is usually during the 3 main months of winter, mid Dec through mid March.
However depending on weather November through May is great!! Lions in Nevada can be
hunted year around, and we do. We don’t normally take clients other than the main mating
months for two reasons, 1. Increase in Tom lions in our area and 2 their fur is much thicker than
in places where they don’t have a cold winter…. We can hunt them all year, however we only
have clients during prime hunting months!! Tags are purchased over the counter in any Nevada
Sporting Good Store.
